COVID Task-Force

The COVID Task Force (made up of ACCC parents, BOD members, and staff) is continuing to meet to help review the latest COVID CDC and health department recommendations and make recommendations to the Board. ACCC families and staff can contact this group at covid-task-force@ameschildcare.org. If you are interested in joining this group, please send the list an email directly.

As the state of the pandemic continues to change, we have been working on updating our COVID Policy to take suggestions into account as well as respond to updated recommendations from the CDC and local health organizations.

Update to ACCC COVID Policy (effective 3/1/2023)

Summary: The ACCC COVID Policy Decision Tree has been updated and posted on this page for reference. You can download a copy using the link above. Please use this for determining required actions when dealing with potential COVID-19 symptoms, a COVID exposure or a positive COVID-19 case.

Masking and Screening Policy Update (effective May 2023):

Masking is optional, recommended but not required. Screening testing is not required. ACCC Director should report during the Board monthly meeting the total number of occurrences of COVID-19 cases at ACCC in order to assess if there is a need to temporarily increase layers of protection, including but not limited to, strongly recommending masks, requiring masks, and increasing screening testing.” This does not change anything about the ACCC COVID Decision Tree which remains intact.

Policy on Travel

ACCC strongly recommends that all teachers, staff, and families follow CDC Travel Recommendations when traveling domestically and internationally.

Reporting
If you or someone in your household tests positive, has symptoms, has a close contact with a COVID-19 infected person, or has any other COVID-19 concerns, report it immediately to the ACCC Director and follow the instructions provided. When reporting, please provide all relevant information, including the following dates:
– the onset of symptoms
– the date of the positive test
– any known exposures
– vaccination status (including boosters) for all household members.

Notifications
Notifications will be sent out to applicable families / teachers / staff when there is a close contact exposure identified.

Reduce Your Risk
We cannot control the number of cases in our community, but we can take steps to reduce our risk of getting and transmitting COVID.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends these steps to reduce your risk of getting and spreading COVID:
1. Get Vaccinated – Everyone six months or older is eligible for the vaccine. Everyone five or older is eligible for the booster.  If eligible, get boosted. You can sign up for vaccines or boosters through the Santa Clara County vaccination website.
2. Wear a Mask – Masks should be fitted to the face without gaps and should cover both your nose and mouth. N95 or the like are better than cloth ones.
3. Physical Distance – Stay at least six feet away from people who do not live with you to the greatest extent possible.
4. Avoid Crowds – Large gatherings, particularly indoors, should be avoided to the greatest extent possible.
5. Hand Hygiene – Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
6. Use diagnostic tests to prevent the spread of COVID-19, particularly before and/or after large gatherings.

Thank you to all of you for your patience. Thank you for keeping ACCC as safe as possible by following the safety protocols and getting tested when needed. We will maintain our focus on a safe environment for students and employees. We appreciate all you have done and continue to do to keep our community as safe as possible.

Please reach out to the COVID Task Force if you have questions or concerns.
